According to the Division of Insurance, drivers without the required coverage are subject to law enforcement and DMV actions, including cancellation of the vehicle registration, until they buy at least the mandatory minimum coverage.

Other things to know in Nevada

  • Senate Bill 308 (2017) raised Nevada's minimum from 15/30/10 to 25/50/20, effective July 1, 2018. Older materials may still show the previous limits.
  • UM/UIM coverage is not mandated by law. Nevada law requires insurers to offer it at no less than the statutory minimum liability amount. When the limits rose, drivers who had chosen less than 25/50 had to re-select or reject the coverage on a UM/UIM Selection/Rejection Form.
  • The Division lists factors insurers consider when setting auto rates, including driving record, claims history, zip code, vehicle, miles driven and a credit-based insurance score.
