What to know in Virginia.
- Virginia raised its minimums for policies effective on or after January 1, 2025. For policies effective January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024, the minimums were $30,000, $60,000 and $20,000.

- If liability coverage on a vehicle terminates or cancels during the registration period, you must reinsure the vehicle, deactivate your license plates, or permanently surrender them to the DMV.

- Insurance companies may factor into the premium the driving record of any individual of driving age who lives in your household.
- Under section 38.2-2206 of the Code of Virginia, liability policies must include uninsured motorist coverage within limits not less than the section 46.2-472 minimums.
