What to know in Hawaii.
- Hawaii raised its minimum liability limits effective January 1, 2026. The new limits apply to personal auto policies that are new or up for renewal on or after that date. The previous minimum was 20/40/10, and many older materials still show it.
- Hawaii Revised Statutes section 431:10C-103 defines the maximum personal injury protection benefit as $10,000 per person in any one motor vehicle accident.
- In addition to liability and PIP, the Insurance Division says policies should include other coverages required by statute or requested by a lender or lessor.
