If you drive without required coverage
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, a suspension can be generated if the Motor Vehicle Division has not received proof of Arizona insurance. An SR-22 certificate, sent directly to the MVD by your insurer, shows you have the minimum liability insurance.

What to know in Arizona.
- After you register your vehicle, you have 30 days to submit proof of Arizona insurance, and insurers routinely notify the MVD of cancellations, renewals and new policies.
- Arizona raised its minimum limits from 15/30/10 to 25/50/15 for policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2020.
- If you elect uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, 25/50 is the minimum amount you can have on your policy.
- For Mexico, the Department notes that Mexican law requires you to buy separate liability coverage from a Mexican insurer before driving there.
